Publications and websites that rank part-time MBA programs use different criteria and, therefore, ranking lists will vary. Lists that rely on student and employer surveys, for example, will look quite different from ranking lists compiled from faculty opinions. Students interested in pursuing a part-time MBA should decide which opinions carry the most weight with them (students, employers, faculty and/or admissions personnel) and make their decision accordingly. A few schools, however, (such as UCLA, USC and UC-Berkeley) do pop up on various Top Ten lists regardless of the population surveyed. U.S. News & World Report Rankings Well-known for their annual rankings of colleges, U.S. News & World Report also compiles an annual list of Top Part-Time MBA Programs based on surveys of senior faculty and deans from accredited business schools. Each school on the U.S. News list earned a 3.7 out of 5.0 peer assessment ranking. The top two schools according to U.S. News surveys are (in descending order) Northwestern University and the University of Chicago. North Carolina’s Elon University takes Bloomberg’s sixth slot, with Carnegie Mellon earning a No. 7 ranking. Students and employers ranked Rice University in Texas as the eighth-best part-time MBA program in the nation, while Indiana University-Southeast and Drexel University round out the list at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.
